Frank Frazetta was American artist specialized in fantasy and science friction genre. His most of the work are noted for comic books, paperback book covers, paintings, posters, LP record album covers and other media.
Frank Frazetta draw lot of comic, album and book covers and his lot of other painting also adopted for the various covers and mascots too. Some of his most popular paintings are Frazetta Girls and death dealer. Frank Frazetta suffered from various health problems and a series of stroke made his right arm useless by paralysis, but his rage for painting never cease. After his right arm became unable to
draw, the taught his left arm to use and start drawing with it. In the year 2003 there is a documentary name Frank Frazetta: Painting with Fire is released based upon his life and struggle he made.
The death dealer is a fantasy painting done in the year of 1973. The painting depicts a menacing armour- clad warrior which is wearing helmet with horn and the facial structure is obscured by shadow. In the painting the warrior is sitting on a horse holding a bloody axe in one hand and a shield in another. Soon the image became a spin-off of varying merchandise which includes subsequent paintings of the warrior, novels, statues, a comic books, and related D&D adventure games. Later Frank Frazetta painted several other death dealers painting and one of
them is select for the comic cover for the series.
The death dealer painting is also used as the album cover of the first album of Molly Hatchet in 1978. In the novel section by the author James Silke death dealer spawned a novel franchise and he published four novels which are in 1988 Prisoner of the Horned Helmet, in 1989 Lords of Destruction and again in 1989 Tooth and Claw and the last in 1990 Plague of Knives.
Based upon the character of death dealer various statue and action figures are created and sculptor Randy Bowen is the first one to make a statue. There are not only the full sizes or miniature statue of the death dealer character but also action figures of Frank Frazetta as a statue too. There are lot of death dealer comics too and the first one is published in the year 1995 by Verotik. The death dealer painting also has an impact in the military because it is used as the mascot of III Corps of America since 1985. Marine Corps helicopter squadron VMM-164 of America also has death dealer as their mascot.
