  2. Setting The story takes place in a current setting. Most of the character interaction takes place at Greg’s house and the school. Greg’s house is in a typical suburban area. He is in 7th grade and goes to middle school.

  3. Characters • Greg - Greg is the main character. He is an 11-12 year old middle school student. Greg loves video games, but does not like to play sports. He has two brothers, Rodrick and Manny. • Rodrick – He is Greg’s older brother and is a high school student who absolutely hates school! He also plays drums for a band called Loded Diper. Rodrick is frequently mean and always teases Greg. • Manny – He is Greg’s younger brother. Manny tattle tales on Greg a lot. • Rowley – He is Greg’s best friend and was the cartoonnest for the school news paper.

  4. Problem • Rodrick knows a secret about Greg. Rodrick often threatens and blackmails Greg into doing things for him. If Greg does not do what his brother ask, Rodrick will reveal the secret to everyone.

  5. Major Event Greg’s bad summer Greg’s dad made him join swim team. He was the worst swimmer on his team. He had to wear his older brother Rodrick’s speedos instead of swim trunks.

  6. Major Event The Cheese Touch At the end of last school year, Greg got the cheese touch. This happened when he touched an old piece of cheese causing everyone to stay away from him. Then a new student came to school and Greg wacked him on the shoulder passing the cheese touch curse on.

  7. Major Event The winter talent show Rowley and a first grader were doing the winter talent show together. Greg put a dumbbell in a pillow and Rowley kicked it and broke his foot. So now Greg had to fill in for Rowley. When it came to the tryouts they didn’t make it because Greg forgot to give the first grader his props.

  8. Major Event Rodrick’s Party Rodrick pretended to be sick so he could have a party. After the party was over Rodrick forced Greg to help clean up or he will tell the secret that happened to Greg over the summer.

  9. Major Event Mom Bucks Mom bucks is fake money that Greg’s mom made up. Greg took fake money from one of Rowley’s games that resembled mom bucks. Instead of using it for cash or getting out of chores, Greg had to pay Rodrick all of his mom bucks. He didn’t do a school project and needed to use the one his brother did a few years earlier. Greg’s mom found out and took all the mom bucks back.

  10. Solution • The big secret that Greg was so afraid of everyone knowing was about the day he ran into the women’s bathroom at a retirement home trying to escape his brother. When he realized what happened it was too late. Security discovered he was in there and he was thrown out. Rodrick revealed Greg’s secret after they got in a fight. However, as the story spread it got twisted. Everyone thought Greg ran into the high school girl’s locker room. Greg became the most popular kid in school.
