CEOS Exhibit @ Rio+20 CEOS Outreach Materials • Japan GEO has reserved 18 square meters (6m x 3m) of exhibit space for GEO and CEOS • The exhibit will be open from Wednesday June 13 through Friday June 22 (the Rio+20 conference will be June 20-22) • Points of Contact for Exhibit:  Toshio Koike and Osamu Ochiai, Michael Williams, Brian Killough CEOS EO Handbook print edition for Rio+20 – more details by ESA

Theme:  The Unique Role of GEOSS in Green Growth c. Participants:  Ministers, DGs, GEO Secretariat Director proposed d. CEOS Speaker: To be identified (ISRO, INPE, JAXA, NASA, CEO are options) e. CEOS organizing POC: JAXA (Ochiai?)

  6. Deliver Talk in Side Events @ Rio+20 (2) European Commission Event (supported by European Commission) a. Date: June 18, exact time TBD b. Theme:  TBD technical GEOSS Focus, e.g., one of the SBAs c. Venue: EU Pavilion d. Participants:  TBD d. CEOS Speaker: Stephen Briggs(?) e. CEOS organizing POC: ESA (Cheli or Petiteville?)

  7. Deliver Talk in Side Events @ Rio+20 (3) UN Office of Outer Space Affairs Event (supported by European Commission) a. Date: June 19 proposed, exact date/time TBD b. Theme:   Space-derived geospatial data, highlighting the data sharing principles by GEO/CEOS c. Participants: GEO/CEOS, WFP/FAO on food security, CONAE on health, Austria on cities/ energy, TBD on ocean and a Charter representative on disaster. COPUOS incoming chairman will chair the session and Ade Abiodun of Nigeria will moderate the panel. d. CEOS Speaker: Need to identify e. CEOS organizing POC: Mazlan Othman, UNOOSA

Proposed Actions • SIT-27: • Approval of the planned CEOS presence at Rio+20 • Feedback on exhibit and side event plans • CEOS: • Comment on GEO Exhibit Layout and Content and Develop CEOS Outreach Materials • Confirm on-site CEOS staffing for entire exhibit period • Identify CEOS Agency representatives who will be in Rio and arrange CEOS speakers as appropriate • Develop CEOS presentation materials with consistent theme in support of various events • Thank You
