PurposeTo inform TSM’s of the health and mental care services available for them and their familiesDiscussion Points- Separation History and Physical Examination (SHPE)- The DOD Mental Health Self-Assessment (MHSA)- DOD’s INTRANSITION Program- VA Coverage- Suicide resources for Veterans, families and friends
Ensure to get a copy of your medical health records for you and your family • It’s a requirement • 180 days prior to their separation Separation History and Physical Examination
Mental health, alcohol screening and a referral program • Voluntary and anonymous • Depression, bipolar disorder, alcohol use, PTSD and anxiety disorder • Active duty members can self-refer • For family members the first 8 visits do not required pre-authorization if it’s within the TRICARE network The DOD Mental Health Self-Assessment Program
Each facility offers clinical & non-clinical prevention, education, treatment programs and campaigns. • Post-deployment Assessments conducted at 6 months, 1 year, and 2 year intervals.
Confidential Coaching Program • If SVM was seen by a behavioral health provider within 1 year of separation they will be automatically enrolled in the program • No expiration date to enroll DOD’s INTRANSITION Program
Combat Veteran Authority- enhanced enrollment program • Reservist who served on active duty • Treatments on PTSD and substance abuse • Former service members with dishonorable or “bad papers” discharge Veterans Affairs Coverage
The VA Crisis line- toll free, confidential resource that connects you with qualified VA responders • 24 / 7 / 365 • Chat, text and call • Deaf and hard of hearing • Even if you are not registered with the VA or enrolled in the VA health care. Suicide Resources for Veterans, Families and Friends
