KINGDA KA AMUSEMENT PARK RIDE By: Mason Rigdon Matthew Mundy Chase Hund
As we started the hot summer day in mid June, our family started on our vacation to 7 Flags. The long car ride drained the energy out of me. Once we got out of the car, we could feel the radiant energy beating down on our faces. It was so intolerable that we had to wear a hat, sun glasses, and sun block.
Were here to ride the biggest rollercoaster in the world; Kingda Ka. We decided to ride it last because we wanted to use the other rides as warm-ups. Hours of fun passed quickly but it was finally time to ride the one and only Kingda Ka. We used a lot of mechanical energy to walk around the park and finally get to the big ride.
We finally got on the ride and the operator pushed the power button that sent electrical energy to the rollercoaster . The long 40 seconds of going up the incline felt like hours! As we reached the top, our potential energy was at its peak. As we were starting to fall, I felt a chemical disturbance (chemical energy ) in my stomach like I was going to throw up.
As we were descending down the incline, kinetic energy was at its climax. When we were riding the rollercoaster, we could smell the railings being heated by the thermal energy from the cars. Luckily I didn’t throw up on the ride, even though it felt like the quickest ride, it lasted a whole 3 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and I hope to come back next summer.
