  2. Things to Ponder • The famous balcony scene reinforces the themes of society and the private love of R&J • The lovers are isolated from the forces of society (Verona & Fate) which will eventually destroy them both in the end

  3. In the day-world of Verona, the lovers find darkness; • In the Italian night, the lovers find lyric expression and light for their love • They are light to each other in a world of darkness

  4. R&J’s Love • Romeo’s idea of love has not changed and he is still in love with the idea of love(exaggeration / hyperboles) – says Juliet is more radiant than the moon • Juliet is more concerned with the essentials of their relationship (is she too easily won? / Are Romeo’s intentions genuine?
