  3. How can Reading minimize Climate Change? • Support existing Town conservations efforts for energy, water and recycling • Implement ACCCP’s Climate Action Plans • Engage, Educate, and Encourage the Community

  4. CCP Program Milestones • Conduct a Green House Gas Emissions Inventory • Set an Emission Reduction Target • Develop a Local Action Plan • Implement the Local Action Plan • Monitor Progress and Report Results Done Done Done In-Process TBD

  6. Milestones 2 and 3 • Milestone 2: Reading to reduce its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions 10% by 2012 • Presently Milestone 3: Climate Action Plan. How Plan Was Developed • Compiled of a comprehensive plan from: • Emission Inventory results • Relevant actions from plans of other CCP towns • Our own brainstorming • Conversations with people active in town • Consulted with • Town Manager and his staff • Town Departments • RMLD and the board • Members of the Board of Selectman • The Town of Reading Master Plan

What is the Climate Action Plan • Policies, programs, and measures—Reading can take to meet its GHG reduction target • How actions will be implemented such as timeline, financing, and acknowledgement of responsibility to town departments, staff and community • A living document to be implemented

Action Plan Organization • 6 Action Groups: • Modes of Transportation • Vehicle Fuel Efficiency • Energy & Buildings • Lawns, Trees and Water Conservation • Education & Outreach • Awards and Recognition • Municipal – Reduction of town related emissions and how the town can set an example for the community • Community – Reduction of residential, business and community emissions
