Mt. Diablo Unified Technology Plan 2010-2015
What and Why? • The Technology Plan is required by the CA Department of Education for technology funding and E-Rate. • It must be submitted to the state for approval the first week of December 2009 • Plan begins July 1, 2010- June 30, 2015 • Plan has nine sections
Nine Components • District summary and plan duration • Curriculum driven technology goals • Professional development and implementation • Effective, research-based methods, strategies and criteria • Stakeholder involvement • Effective Collaboration with Adult Education • Monitoring and Evaluation • Infrastructure, hardware, technical support and software • Funding and Budget
Research based The Technology Plan was based on: • The district’s Local Education Agency (LEA) Plan and School’s Single Plans for Student Achievement • No Child Left Behind-Title II Part D “Enhancing Education Through Technology” • National Education Technology Standards for students, teachers and administrators • 21st Century Skills
Funding Source • The Technology Plan is an unfunded plan and currently supported by both unrestricted and restricted site and centralized funds. • The plan recommends implementation of existing and new activities and strategies that integrate technology into the curriculum. • Activities are supported by textbook publishers. • Funding sources are listed throughout the plan. • Additional funding sources such as grants, donations and business partners will be pursued to support the plan. • Staff will work towards costing out the plan to ensure action items are implemented.
Evaluation and Monitoring • Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) and Technology & Information Services (TIS) are the primary personnel responsible for the implementation of this plan. • These departments together with the Technology Plan Committee and site administrators track the development and implementation of curriculum activities during quarterly and monthly meetings. They report progress to the Educational Services, Superintendent’s Cabinet and School Board annually. • Modifications to plan activities will be made as needed in order to insure that the district meets or exceeds measurable objectives. The plan will be revisited and modified annually.
