  27. NPMRDS National Performance Management Research Data Set (NPMRDS) includes historical average travel times in 5 minutes increments on daily basis covering the National Highway System (NHS). The National data set of average travel times is used for: • Calculating performance measurement • Identifying transportation improvement areas • Monitoring the effectiveness of the plans and projects PM 3Target Setting Workshop | August 31 2017

  28. Introducing NPMRDS, cont’d There are two versions of NPMRDS: • NPMRDS V1.0: Jul. 2013 – Jan. 2017 • NPMRDS V2.0: Feb. 2017 – Dec 2022 PM 3Target Setting Workshop | August 31 2017

  30. NPMRDS Characteristics NPMRDS consists of two parts: • Traffic Message Channel (TMC): • Contains information about segments of the road which data is observed • Static and does not change frequently • Contains HPMS data in NPMRDS 2.0 • Travel Time: • Contains time stamps, speed for passenger and heavy vehicles • Dynamic and data size for each state ~ 1-4 GB per month PM 3Target Setting Workshop | August 31 2017
