David C. Wong and Jeffrey O. Young 3rd Annual CMAS Models-3 conference October 18-20, 2004 Computational Aspects of the Air Quality Forecasting version of CMAQ(CMAQ-F)
Differences in CMAQ & CMAQ-F • SPMD vs MIMD programming paradiagm • IO design
Objectives • Does IO processor placement affect the performance? • Will more than one dedicated IO processors render better performance? • Is dedicated IO process scheme better than standard scheme which is used in CMAQ?
Conclusions & future work • Placing the IO processor at the beginning or the end of the allocated processor group has different performance for CMAQ and CMAQ-F. • One dedicated processor is good for current CMAQ-F. • The dedicated WTD scheme is not superior to standard scheme in performance. • In AQF, load balance is an issue. • The study will be conducted on Linux clusters.
