G8 Request “We take note of the Energy Research and Innovation Workshop held in Oxford in May 2005, and will work with the IEA to: • build on the work already underway through its Implementing Agreements to facilitate cooperation and share energy research findings • reinforce links with the international business community and developing countries
G8 Request (cont.) • create an inventory of existing collaborative efforts to facilitate exchange on their effectiveness • raise the profile of existing research networks and encourage broader participation where appropriate • seek ways to improve the current arrangements of collaboration between developed and developing country participants in existing networks.

NEET is working hand in hand with: • REEEP (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership) • Russia, South Africa • CTI (IEA Climate Technology Initiative) • Asia, South America • Expressed support from: • World Bank • World Business Council for Sustainable Development (50 regional offices) • Implementing Agreements
In the “plus five” NEET is aiming • to identify national priorities • to identify national activities • to identify national key players • to take stock of existing collaborative activities - and as a consequence - • to develop a national NEET agenda • to enhance effective and sustainable collaborative relationships
NEET Goals • 6 energy technology collaboration workshops in +5 countries and Russia • South Africa scheduled 20-23 February 2006, Jo-burg SA • Contributions to 7-10 international key events • 1st event at CSD-14 / NEET launch • CSD15, COP/MOP etc… • Inventory of global collaborative energy efforts
