HISTORY • Is a central square of the city Munich, Germany • Has been around since 1158, and has always been the city’s main square • Markets and tournaments were held in this city in the Middle Ages • The Marienplatz moved to near the Viktualienmarkt in 1807, but that didn’t stop it from being the city’s focal point

  4. Places for you to See • The Marienplatz attracts a lot of tourist • Amazing tourist spots to see are: • -Glockenspiel (Carillon) • -Neues Rathaus (new town hall) • - Atles Rathaus (old town hall) • -Mariensaule ( St. Mary column) • And other medieval buildings • Marienplatz Video

  6. Basic Information • Neuhauser Strasse and Kaufinger Strasse run through Marienplatz. • Together they make the hearts of Munich’s pedestrian zone. • Both are major shopping streets. • Comprise of large department stores.
