Administrative details • On 8th of October, on DILS website, proposals for your thesis will be displayed • You can come with your own proposals as well • Till 10th of December, you have to establish the subject, the coordinator professor and take page 3 (signed) from Diploma project at DILS secretary (CJ106) • http://dils.pub.ro/info-student/proiecte-de-licenta/
Grading • NOTE: You have to take a grade on the 2nd semester which values 10 ECTS and which reflects your involvement in your final project preparation (this grade is given by the coordinator!) • You will take another grade for the bachelor exam (code, written thesis, presentation + questions) given by committee, but the starting point is the grade given by the coordinator; this starting point != the grade of 10 ECTS (e.g. you can take 10 for the preparation and 9 for the final result or viceversa)
Planning • Make a Google Drive and share it with me: 24.02 • Put there Introduction, State of the art: 01.03 • Put there Research methodology & requirements, architecture; make the structure of the application : 08.03 • Implementation & write about application: 25.05 • Finish application, validation & conclusions: 15.06 • 6 Individual meetings, established by e-mail, till 25.05; possible days: Tuesday (12-14), Wednesday (14-16, 18-19), Thursday (18-19)
Content of the Written Thesis • Introduction • Current context of your research, problem statement, argumentation (1-2 page) • Objectives of your research (1/2 page) • Structure of your thesis (1/2 pages) • State of the art • Your application is need-driven and/or technology-driven • Other similar applications/methods/algorithms/… (underline what they don’t have • Research methodology • How did you establish the requirements? (survey, literature review etc) • Requirements (functional, non-functional, req diagram, house of quality, technologies you plan to use) • Your application/experiment • Architecture/high-level description • Functionalities (with behaviour diagrams, print screens) • Technologies (short description) • Your proposed algorithm/new feature about you want to talk more – core of your application (if exists) • Validation (validation through a survey, experiment, performance tests …) • Conclusions & future improvements (why your application is useful, innovative…) • References (at least 30, in an uniform style, e.g. APA style) • no more than 10 web links + books, lectures notes, articles • you can search here: http://hcibib.org/www.sciencedirect.com (access from inside of UPB) • Annexes (pieces of code, not all the code; survey forms …)
