Qualifications and Credit Framework • New way of recognising achievement through the award of credits for units and qualifications • Credit can be accumulated and transferred between qualifications and awarding organisations • Flexible routes to gaining full qualifications • Qualifications can be gained incrementally • Learner’s ‘spiky profiles’ can be accommodated, ie units of different levels can be achieved in a single qualification
Qualifications and Credit Framework • Three sizes of qualifications • Awards (1-12 credits) • Certificates (13 – 36 credits) • Diplomas (37 or more) • Each qualification title will contain the following • Level of the qualification • Size of the qualification • Details indicating the content of the qualification • By looking at the title you will be able to tell its difficulty, how long it will take average learner to complete, and its general content
Team programme qualification • Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills • Available at Award and Certificate size • All units are available at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 • Units • Career Planning • Community Project • Planning for Progression • Presentation Skills • Supporting Others • Teamwork • Work Experience
Team programme qualification • Certificate • 27 credits (15/27) • All seven units must be taken • At least 15 credits must be taken at the level of the qualification being claimed
Team programme qualification • Award • 9 credits (6/9) • Any combination of the seven units listed for Certificate • At least 6 credits must be taken at the level of the qualification being claimed • All units are available at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2
Awarding Organisation Subtitle
Prince’s Trust Qualifications • The Prince's Trust is recognised by the qualification regulators in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to develop, offer and award qualifications
Regulatory responsibilities • Maintaining the integrity of nationally recognised qualifications • Issuing formal qualification certificates • Ensuring qualifications are accessible to all and free from barriers and discrimination • Continuous self assessment to ensure units and qualifications are robust and fit for purpose • Meeting regulatory criteria
Maintaining standards overview of assessment process • Assessor • Internal verifier • External verification
External Verifier • The representative from the Awarding Organisation–Prince’s Trust Qualifications • Reviews the quality of assessment and verification decisions carried out within and between centres by the use of systematic sampling • Ensures assessment decisions are valid and reliable • Advises assessors and internal verifiers on areas of best practice

Centre approval There are two routes for gaining centre approval: • A fast track system for centres already recognised by other awarding organisations and offering programmes in similar sectors to the work of The Trust • A system for new centres

Qualification portal A secure administration system for Prince's Trust Qualification centres. Can be used to: • register as a centre • make unit and qualification entries • view learner’s results • download resources • view verification reports Will be launched in August 2011

Costs • £45 Certificate • £20.50 Award • Units are £8.50 per 3 credits when purchased separately There is no centre approval fee
