Famous Areas South County Dublin_______________________ South County is most of Dublin County that is south of the River Liffey. In this area, you will find the Dublin Mountains, Killiney, Blackrock, and Dundrum. The major attractions in this area include Drimnagh Castle, the James Joyce Museum, the PearseMuseum and the National Maritime Museum. South Dublin Cities ________________________ South City is located south of the River Liffey and is home to Dublin's inner suburbs. It is home to many embassies, fine hotels, restaurants, and houses. The main attractions are KilmainhamGaol, the Shaw Birthplace, the Waterways Visitor Center, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and the National Print Museum. North County Dublin_______________________ North County is all of Dublin that is outside the M50 ring road and within the boundaries of County Dublin, and includes Howth, Rush & Lusk, Skerries, Dublin Airport, and Castleknock, and many other places. It is home to many beaches, country walks, large homes, and a lot of golf courses. North Dublin City__________________________ The North City extends north of the canals to just within the M50 ring road, encompassing Bull Island, Casino Marino, Dublin Port, the Phoenix Park, Clontarf, and Dublin Port.

KilmainhamGaol Gaol- British Jail KilmainhamGaol is one of the biggest Gaols in Ireland . When it was open it held the some of the most famous politicians and military leaders in Irish History.
Dublin Castle • Dublin castle is in the heart of Dublin. • It was built out of wood by Vikings in the year 904 out of wood. • In 1204 King John of England got the castle built out of stone. • In 1556 new Lord Deputy Henry Sidney moved his household into Dublin Castle. • From then on the Castle became the control center for the vicious wars and religious persecution against the Irish Chieftains and the 'Old English' Catholics. • The English took over it in 1570 and it was abandoned for 200 years. In the 1916 rebellions, Ireland took control of it again.

Guinness Brewery • St. James's Gate Brewery is a brewery founded in 1759 in Dublin, Ireland, by Arthur Guinness • Main product of the brewery is Guinness Draught • Became the largest brewery in Ireland in 1838 & was the largest in the world in 1914, covering 64 acres. • Although no longer the largest brewery in the world, it is still the largest brewer of stout in the world • The brewery also made all of its own power using its own power plant

Language The official language of Ireland is English: 55 percent speak only English 39 percent speak mainly English, and somewhat Irish (Gaelic) 3 percent speak other languages 2 percent speak only Irish (Gaelic) 1 percent speak Polish
Government Dublin City is governed by Dublin City Council, which is presided over by the Lord Mayor of Dublin who is elected for a yearly term. The head of Ireland’s government is the Prime Minister. The deputy prime minister is selected by the prime minister. The rest of Irelands government consist of a parliament like system of an upper house, lower house and a cabinet.
