Week 2 AssignmentSubmission Deadline: 11 July 2011 • Record the problem identified during your cycling trip supported with photographs. • Record the problem identified / learning during Mr Francis’s Talk in the form of writing verify by research. • Gather information on Law and Regulation related to cycling in Singapore and answer the following questions. • Can a cyclist cycle on the pedestrian walkway? • Do a cyclist has to wear helmet when cycling? • Is motorised bicycle allowed in Singapore? • What are the consequences of breaking these law?
Cycling Route -------- Cyclists will dismount and push their bicycle Cyclists cycling along road side Cyclists cycling on the grass patch beside the road A school staff to warn any vehicle entering Old Upper Thomson Road to slow down
Sequences of Move • Mr Ng Group (with Mdm Siti as rear) • Mr Tay Group • Mr Koh Group (with Mr Yeo as rear) • Mr Lin Group (with Mr Daniel as rear) • The next group will move once the first group has enter Pierce Secondary School
Road Safety Measures • A security guard will alert vehicle coming into Sin Ming Walk to further slow down • Garden Condo Security to be informed of the event to warn outgoing vehicle • A safety vehicle will bring escort along old Upper Thomson Road
Other Safety Measure • Cyclist are to follow instructions of the front cyclist unless it is unsafe to do so. That is, if the front cyclist dismount and push the bicycle, the rest will follow. • All cyclist push their bicycle across the road together. In the event of falling behind. Cyclist are to wait for the next traffic signal to cross. DO NOT RUSH ACROSS. • Students who did not know how to cycle will be on the two-sitter bike with the teacher.
Safety Rules • Do not overtake your teachers. • Dismount and push your bike on pedestrian walkway. • Do not stop on the road side to take photo. • No speeding. Keep below 10 km/h. Follow the teachers cycling speed. • Cycle in single lane. • Keep a safety distance of ½ a bike length.
In the event of rain along the journey • Dismount from your bicycle. • Push your bicycle from the road. • Take out your umbrella. • Push your bike to the nearest shelter.

Things to bring • Handphone camera or camera • Pencil or pen and notebook • Umbrella • Water bottle • Attire will be T-shirt
Checking of Equipment • Inform the teacher if the bicycle is not working properly (brake, changing of gear, tyre flat etc) • Helmet is wear correctly
Before leaving school • Test cycle around parade square and understand the speed limit. • Practice how to assemble as a group. • Do not stop on your own accord to take photo. Only take photo on the returning trip after the intermediate debrief. • There will be a intermediate debrief / teaching at lower pierce reservoir park. • There will be a final debrief back in school.
