National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education(NCATE)defines DISPOSITIONS as Values Commitments Professional Ethics
Dispositions: NCATE “The values, commitments, and professional ethics that influence behaviors toward students, families, colleagues, and communities and affect student learning, motivation, and development as well as the educator’s own professional growth. Dispositions are guided by beliefs and attitudes related to values such as caring, fairness, honesty, responsibility, and social justice. For example, they might include a belief that all students can learn, a vision of high and challenging standards, or a commitment to a safe and supportive learning environment.” PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS for the Accreditation of Schools, Colleges, and Departments of Education 2006 EDITION

Disposition 3 SCHOLARLY Candidates demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter, seek information, and engage in discussions about the discipline.
Disposition 4 PROFESSIONAL Candidates understand education as a profession, demonstrate standards of professional conduct, and are dedicated to improving student learning and well-being.
Disposition 5 RESPECTFUL Candidates understand and show respect and appreciation for the diverse perspectives of all learners and constituencies.
