  1. POP QUIZ 1) Find the midpoint and distance given the endpoints. Keep your midpoint as an improper fraction and distance as a decimal. (48, -11) and (41, 13)

  2. Midpoint Formula (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are endpoints

  3. Lets find the midpoint!

  4. Try these on your own: Find the midpoint: • (-11, 3) (13, 5) • (0, 7) (-5, -3) • (1/2, 4/3)(2/3, 5/2) • (8,4) (-3, -5) • (7, -2) (2, -3)

  5. Given the coordinate of an endpoint of a segment and its midpoint, find the coordinates of the other endpoint. Endpoint (2, 5) & Midpoint (-3, 9) Endpoint (1, 9) & Midpoint (10, -2) c) Endpoint (5, -7) & Midpoint (-2, 8)

  6. How can we find the distance between 2 points without using the formula? EX: Find the distance between the points (6, 10) and (11, 22).

  7. Try these on your own: Find the distance: • (-11, 3) (13, 5) • (0, 7/2) (-5/3, -3/4) • (1/2, 4/3)(2/3, 5/2) • (8/7,5/4) (-3/14, -5/7) • (27/35, -23/105) (2/7, -3/35)

  8. Trade it and Grade it Come up with a problem on your own that involves midpoint and distance. Trade your problem with someone else, solve it, trade it back and grade it. Hand it in to me once someone has tried and you have graded your problem.

  9. Challenge Problem A census taker approaches a house and asks the woman who answers the door "How many children do you have, and what are their ages?" Woman: "I have three children, the product of their ages are 36, the sum of their ages are equal to the address of the house next door." The census taker walks next door, comes back and says "I need more information.“ The woman replies "I have to go, my oldest child is sleeping upstairs.“ Census taker: "Thank you, I now have everything I need.“ What are the ages of each of the three children?

  10. 1) Find the midpoint between (2x2 +5, 5x) and (6x2 +7, 13x – 4)
