  5. Consequences of Drug Use • Lack in school effort • Act irresponsibly • Violence • Suicide • Can cause health problems in the future

Statistics • Almost 35 million smoke addicts attempt to quit each year • Children of smokers are twice as likely to be smokers as opposed to children of non-smokers • “Nearly three quarters of students (72%) have consumed alcohol by the end of high school, and more than a third (37%) have done so by eighth grade.” • Nearly half (44%) of American young people have tried cigarettes by twelfth grade, and one out of five (20%) twelfth graders is a current smoker.
