Facts and Concepts for Type I • Horizontally launched • viy = 0 • ax = 0 • ay = 9.8 m/s/s downward (-9.8m/s/s) • Trajectory (path) is one side of an upside down parabola • Vertical displacement (Dy) is neg. (downward) • Impact velocity is faster than launch velocity, and angle of impact is negative (traveling in a direction below horizontal)
Type I ex #1 • A water pistol held horizontally at a height of 1.20m ejects a stream of water that strikes the floor 5.00m from the shooter. • With what speed is the water launched? • With what speed does the water impact the floor?
