CSIT at CSUMB • Emphasizes on user experience, applied and communicationsside of the computing fields. • Integrates strong fundamental computing concepts with latest real-world problem solving skills. Technology impacts on social, ethical, global issues, as well as collaboration and communication skills will be infused. • Is being planned in collaboration with many community colleges, including all the HELP partners: MPC, Hartnell, Gavilan and Cabrillo College, to provide a seamless four-year curriculum for students. Networking and Security Curriculum Design • Closely follow ACM model but more flexible and outcome based * Course will cover CCNA or CCNP and some additional learning outcomes ITCD, Eric Tao, 2005
Outcome Assessment • Students • Already acquired the knowledge/skills with evidence • Register for regular or special course • Present evidence to instructor during the first two week of the semester • If the outcomes are fulfilled for the course, a passing grade will be assigned • If not, student will start attend classes to complete the learning or withdraw from the course • About 10-15% students try assessment, about 30-75% of them are successful ITCD, Eric Tao, 2005
