  8. Coaching Philosophy • Player Development: Attempting to maximize the soccer potential with age appropriate training. U13 players should dedicate their time working on development of Technique, which is first priority of the four components of the game. • Human Development: Using soccer as microcosm of life to instill qualities such as cooperation, competition, leadership, discipline, hard work and healthy lifestyle

Long Term Athlete Development Technique: • Must replicate games situations • Age and level specific • Use of the soccer ball on most activities • Maximizing touches on the ball • Incremental progression • Challenging Activities • Demand Quality • Intense training sessions with many repetitions • Fun

  11. Components of the game • Physical: Athleticism, Speed, strength, fitness, Power • Tactics: Systems of play, Decision making, Positioning of players on the field • Psycho-social : Strong minds, strong personalities, Challenging, Desire, passion

  12. Team Objectives • To become more proficient on the technical aspect of the game. • To create passion in the players mind and heart • To respect the game fully • To play well and bonito

  13. Playing Time • Based on: • Commitment: Being at practice and games at all times. Participation on team’s activities • Behavior: Demonstrate discipline toward the game, coaches, team-mates, opponents, officials • Performance/Ability: Try to play well & bonito Provide 125% at all times. High performance will be evaluated in practices and games

  14. Positions • Soccer is team sport • Team takes priority over individual • Every player will play the position assigned by the coach • Positions are determined by coach’s believes, knowledge and experience • Players will be exposed to multiple positions for better and easier player development

  15. Program Overview Attend practices: 2 x per week-parents will call to notify me. Only valid reasons. Attend games: Season games: 10 approximately Tournaments: 20 games Scrimmages: from 7-10 aproximately 5 tournaments per year 1 State Cup

  16. Calendar • Spring: Practice starts on March 11th at Foot Hill HS from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. • Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Spring, Summer, Fall and part of Winter. • Duration of practices is 1 hour and a half. • Practice schedule depends upon availability of fields

Player Expectations • Respect the coach’s decisions • Respect the game, team-mates, opponents, officials • Demonstrate discipline in practice, games and team’s activities • Discipline-Part of the equation WE>ME • Integrity and truthfulness • 125% effort is implied & demanded-a necessity for growth

  18. Players Expectations • Wear shin guards at practices and games • Bring a soccer ball to practice at all times • Bring water • Be at practice on time

  19. Parents Expectations • Players at practice 15 minutes before start. Games 45 minutes before the start • Cheer for great plays, but avoid coaching your child • Please contact me directly. I have an open door for communication • Communication with coach (24 hour rule) • Family committed to all team’s activities

Parents Expectations • Be an ambassador of the club • Be supportive to your coach and respect his decisions • Help set-up and cleanup • Respect the officials, rules and the opposition • Follow the club’s Guidelines • Issues should be dealt within the chain of command: Coach-Director of Coaching-VP-Comp-Club President

  21. What Parents can do to help their child improve • Assist your child with soccer home-work • Support the coaches evaluation • Watch Professional Soccer games on TV and Live with your child • Encourage your child to follow the coach’s teaching, philosophy and passion

  22. Coaching Expectations • Two written Evaluations • Provide the most appropriate training sessions • Be at practice 15 minutes before the start • Positive and professional behavior • 24 hour response to all communication (except after games) • Available to speak with you any time • Honesty

Team Volunteers • Team manager: – Coordinates communication, player passes, team parties, parent meetings, travel, tournament applications, training schedules, etc. • Team Treasurer   – Handles the money for the individual team and works with the League’s Treasurer to provide standardized reports for accountability.
