Project Overview • The Fruit & Vegetable sector has made a clear decision to adopt the GS1 Standards to improve the efficiency of the supply chain. • The Fruit & Vegetable business is not a national, but a global business with suppliers from all parts of the world, which need to make efficient trade. • There is a need to build a common European framework to ensure alignment in the implementation of GS1 Standards and avoid divergences in the deployment of the GS1 System: • Common European platform to gather and share European requirements • One European voice in global standardisation and coordination. • Participation of industry (Producer, supplier, retailer) and associations (GS1, Frug I Com, IFPS etc.). • Common implementation guidelines across Europe.
Scope of the project • Providing implementation guidelines according to European requirements/legislation and supporting implementation of the key stakeholders. • The main objective of the project 2013 will be: • Product identification • Master data alignment • Company and party identification
Benefits for stakeholders • Facilitate cross-border trading by avoiding national solutions. • Providing a unique solution with GS1 Global Standards will decrease the period and costs of implementation. • Build a more efficient supply chain: • Category Management • Inventory accuracy • Perfect orders • Waste prevention
