  3. Criteria

  4. 1. Student Performance • Meet the minimum percentage of students performing at or above the MEET STANDARDS level on state assessments

  5. 3. Attendance Rate • 90% or show improvement • Elementary and Middle, not high school

  6. 4. Graduation Rate • 75% or show improvement • Cohort of students • Dropouts are included • GEDs are not included • Transfers are not included • IEPs are included

  7. Accreditation Status • Accredited • On Watch • Accredited on Improvement • Conditionally Accredited • Not Accredited • Also on “Delay”

  8. ON WATCH • FIRST YEAR a School does not make AYP in reading or math • Applies to ALL student group • Applies to SUB-GROUPS

Accredited on Improvement For TWO consecutive years in the same subject area the school fails to meet the AYP target • Assigned a state technical assistance team by the state (STAT) • Develop and Implement a Deficiency Correction Plan (Integrated Improvement Plan) IIP • State Board may require corrective action • Takes 2 years to return to accredited

Conditionally Accredited For three consecutive years in the same subject area the school fails to meet the AYP target ALL students only • STAT, Deficiency Plan, Corrective Action • Sanctions • Reassign personnel or resources • Hire person to assist school in improving student performance • Reduce state funding, increased local property tax • Legislature abolish or restructure the district • Press release • Other action as deemed appropriate by SBOE. • Takes two years of improvement to change status

Not Accredited • Reassign or reallocate personnel or resources • Hire person to assist in improvement • Reduction in state funding, increase local property tax • Legislature may abolish or restructure district • Letter of notification and press release • Other action deemed necessary • Five years in the same subject area/ALL students

  13. Appeal Process • May only appeal conditionally accredit or nonaccredited • Within 15 days of receiving status • To Commissioner of Education who appoints appeal team

Basis of Appeal • STAT recommendations • Local assessments aligned with state standards data may be used for appeal • Data regarding Quality Criteria • 0analysis of state assessments • Information from Integrated Review • Systemically look at data, programs, resources to define strengths, needs and student support • Programs and resources are integrated

  15. STAT • Provides technical assistance to school accredited on improvement or conditionally accredited • Does not replace the External Technical Assistance Team • Approves corrective action plan (IIP) • 2 individuals with expertise in content • May also be on ETAT
