Troubleshooting the Interactive Whiteboard Support - Hardware
Focusing Questions • What are some of the issues your teacher is having with their whiteboard? • How can we fix these problems?
Framing The Session After completing this session you will be able to help your teachers troubleshoot whiteboard issues.
Teaching Determine which of the following issues you are having: • Sound • Orientating the Whiteboard • Whiteboard light signals
Sound • Check that the power to the speakers are connected. • Turn on the speakers (you should see a green light.) Make sure to turn them on before you connect to your computer. • Make sure there is sound on your computer and that it is not muted. • Check your sound properties by right clicking on the sound icon on your taskbar.
Orientating the Whiteboard • Click on the keyboard button and right click button on the Whiteboard tray at the same time. • Click on the center of each cross. Make sure you are clicking on the tiny yellow circle in the middle of the cross. • If you make a mistake click the keyboard button and continue.
Signals Steady Green Light – The Whiteboard is ready to go. Blinking Green Light – Software issue. You may have to reinstall the Whiteboard software. Red Light – No power is going to the Whiteboard. Check for loose connections and faulty wiring.
Guided Practice • Now it is your turn to follow the trouble shooting steps. • Each student will have a chance to fix the 3 problems listed.
Work Time Step 1 Break into groups of 2. One teacher and one Tech Team member. Step 2 The “teacher” will state an issue the whiteboard is having. Step 3 The “squad member” will troubleshoot the issue. Step 4 Reverse the roles.
Share • Share what scenarios you acted out and how you handled the situation. • Are there any other issues you can think about that we haven’t discussed today.
