We live on an ordinary planet, orbiting an average star, which is one star in a typical galaxy.
Everything about our Earth and solar system is ordinary in every way.
This principle is actually necessaryto a study and understanding of our Universe.
The universe is the totality of all space, time, matter, and energy.
Constellations are groups of stars that appear close together in the sky.
However, the stars aren’t actually close together, but in roughly the same direction in the sky as seen from Earth.
Constellations had varying names in different cultures • North America - big dipper • W. Europe - the wagon, the plough • Greeks - great bear • Egyptians - leg of ox • Siberians - stag • Native Americans - seven brothers, ermine, funeral procession
