Course of Study • GRADE SEVEN
PAP Expectations • Both 7th and 8th Grade PAP classes will investigate concepts for the grade level TEKS. • Both 7th and 8th Grade PAP classes will be exposed to concepts related to above level TEKS. (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) • All students will complete an at home project during the Spring Semesters (project based, problem based learning, or service learning project). • All students need at least a 75 at the end of the 1st grading period to remain in PAP. • A grade below 80 any time after the end of 1st grading period will cause the student to be dismissed from the PAP class.
Cornell Notes • Cornell Notes are assigned to be completed as homework. • Cornell Notes prime students’ background knowledge. • Cornell Notes are to be completed in Cornell Note Format (2 columns). • They are assigned on Wednesday and due the following Wednesday. • They can be assessed with a quiz (open note). • Ten points off of the quiz grade if Cornell Notes are missing at the time of the quiz. • ZAP assigned if a quiz is not given and Cornell Notes are taken for a completion grade but are missing.
Tutorials • Tuesday 8 am • Thursday 8 am • Tuesday 3:45-4:15 pm (by appointment only) • Tuesday afternoon appointments should be ahead at least a day ahead of time. • Tutorial passes can be obtained the day before from me. • Tutorial passes are available at the tutorial tables (first come, first serve basis)
Corrections Policy • Students have up to 5 days to make corrections on an assignment that is handed back. • An assignment of a grade 69 or below can be corrected. • Students must attend tutorials to make corrections on an assignment that has a failing grade.
Daily Expectations • Have a pencil or pen ready to be used before class starts. • Have your binder at your desk and be working on your warm-up before the bell rings. • Raise your hand and ask for permission to get up out of your seat. • If I am talking at any time, you are not to be talking. • If I call on a student to answer a question, only the student I call on should be responding to me. • Turn in your work on time. • Keep the chair on the floor (no rocking back). • Clean up your area and push in your chair before you’re dismissed.
