Christ was without spot • “how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Heb. 9:14
II. Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin • 1. Law required unblemished sacrifice • Ex. 12:5 “Your lamb shall be without blemish” • 2. Christ was without spot • “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” 1 Pet. 1:19

Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin • Innocent must suffer for the guilty • “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isa. 53:6 • Jesus’ death could not have atoned for sin, if He was sinful. II. Necessity of His Sinless life To Atone for Sin If Jesus had been guilty of sin, then... Not able to satisfy God’s wrath Not have been an acceptable sacrifice of God He would have violated O.T. types He would have violated O.T. prophecies about sinless Savior He would have violated doctrine of atonement Instead of saving others, He would need saving !

He Set a Perfect Example for man to follow • We need a perfect example • We follow others only as they follow Christ 1 Cor. 11:1 • We must walk in his steps • “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH” 1 Pet. 2:21-22
Sinless Life of Jesus • Jesus was more than simply without sin • He was a model of holiness. • He lived a life of excellence. • He is Immanuel - God With Us • Human and divine • Divinity required that He be without Sin !!
