  5. Let’s Back Up… VS New Media Traditional Media Blogs / News Newspapers YouTube Television Radio iTunes – Playlists CDs Web Apps

  6. The Social Networks Thing Where people gather online to talk about things they’re passionate about. Social media has permanently transformed the way people connect and share information. The brand/programme that gets this, wins.

  7. A Social Media strategy – some thoughts • Set objectives first • Blogs without a strategy wither and die. Transactions, Leads, Conversations… • Don’t be afraid to experiment. Video, Audio, Text, etc… • Build a roadmap to engagement • Find your voice • Corporate vs Personal or Both?! • Examine the costs (time and resources) and benefits • Define an “editorial” policy • Transparency is a must • The Good, The Bad and the Ugly! • A good communicator listens to what is said • Complaints, Compliments, Problems, Questions, Crisis, Competitors

  8. Trends to watch in 2010 • Social Networks Replaces Emails • Web users are “mobilizing” (iPhone, iPad, Android) • “Crowdsourcing” growing as budgets plummet • More rich media at a higher quality

  9. “Crowdsourcing”?? • Built on the concept that the crowd is smarter than any one of its members, even when they're not actually working together. • So how you do apply this when creating awareness and education programme guidelines?

  10. Some thoughts to take away……… • Plan the work and work the plan • Define objectives • Figure out how to achieve the objectives • Execute • Measure results • Rinse and repeat as required • And don’t forget to use common sense!
