  3. If you answered yes, you probably have genital herpes! Herpes simplex 2 is an infection which appears on the epidermis in the genital area in which red sores or blisters appear.

  4. Cause of Outbreaks • General illness • Fatigue • Physical or emotional stress • Immunosuppression • Trauma to infected area • Menstruation

  5. Signs and Symptoms • Sores around the genitals or rectum in males and on the vagina, cervix, or buttocks area in females • Blisters around the infected areas • Fluid-filled blisters that form painful, crusted sores on the genitals, anus, thighs, or buttocks. Can spread to the lips through oral contact.

  6. Is there a cure?! • There is no cure for herpes simplex. Once a person has the virus, it remains in the body. The virus lies inactive in the nerve cells until something triggers it to become active again.
