  2. Purposes at UNI • Identify high-risk freshmen • Focus them on success strategies • Enable interventions by faculty/staff • Generatedata for understanding students’ experience

  3. The Basics • Students take a 15-minute online survey between Sept 13 and Oct 9 • They get an immediate, individualized, online feedback report • Five areas: Academic, Socio-Emotional, Behaviors and Activities, Performance and Expectations, Financial Means • Same time: “connected” faculty/staff get online status report regarding high, moderate and low risk status of each of their students • Some “connected” faculty/staff “intervene”

  4. Student Link to Personalized Report • Basic academic behaviors • Class attendance • Academic Self-Confidence • Time Management • Course Difficulties • Sense of Belonging • Campus Involvement • Paying for College • Campus Resources • Direct Connect Faculty/Staff

  5. Faculty/Staff Intervention • Residence Life Coordinator (Primary Direct Connect) • High and Moderate Risk – RA Conversation with resident • Other intervention, as deemed necessary • Academic Advisor (Direct Connect) • Additional information in advising process • Course Instructor (Direct Connect) • AIO – Alert Input Only • Consult with individual students • Determine aggregated student challenges • Academic assignments related to student challenges (e.g. Cornerstone)

AdministrationDetails 2010 1,993 new freshmen direct from high school 50.1% of students had their individual reports viewed by at least one faculty or staff member. 2011 1,946new freshmen direct from high school 149 sophomores (Jumpstart students in fall 2010 and multicultural students who did not participate in Jumpstart)
