The use of Folk Devils in the Media Folk devils is the termed use for scapegoatseg people to blame things on so for example you will often read or hear that it is all the immigrants and asylum seekers that are taking our jobs here in the UK rather than a consequence of poor economic policies by government etc. Asylum seekers are not allowed to work in the UK whilst waiting for a decision on asylum and immigrants come in for work according to demand. Teenage Single Mums/ black gangs / Muslims and gypsies are other common folk devils...... Think about the emotive language that is often used in the media....
