Towards an Information Literate University COBE: Utilizing the undergraduate levels framework 4th November 2009
Lord Puttnam on IL “…. I do think anyone with an OU degree should be brilliantly familiar with information gathering on the web. The idea you will graduate from the OU without being a world-class researcher yourself, should be nonsense. We should be challenging students to find their own links, and their own information…...” an interview with Lord Puttnam in the 12th issue of ‘Society Matters’- the social sciences magazine at:http://www.open.ac.uk/socialsciences/__assets/l3qzxw7ixnli7kr5s4.pdf
How are we getting there? • Learning and teaching strategy: • All staff will have expertise to engage in learning design that fosters the development of information and digital literacies • Increase information literacy development across the curriculum • Provide just in time resources • Establish training programmes for students
