Foundation Governors form the majority on the governing body It is expected that all staff teach RE if required RE is inspected under Section 48 - Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS)
VC Schools (RE) • Taught according to the Locally Agreed Syllabus. However, we strongly encourage VC schools to use the Diocesan Schemes of Work which are based on the Kent Agreed Syllabus • The Headteacher is responsible for RE in consultation with the governing body • Foundation Governors are in the minority
School brochure should specify the right of parents to withdraw their child from RE • Staff may exercise their right to withdraw from teaching RE
Parents at a Controlled school may request that their children receive RE in accordance with the Trust Deed which will usually include a clause indicating that this should be conducted to reflect the faith and practice of the Church of England
Church schools should be flagships for the teaching of RE Lightingthe way!
Collective Worship VA and VC schools must provide a daily act of Christianworship
The school brochure should inform parents of their right to withdraw their children from collective worship. The responsibility for worship lies with governorsin consultationwith the headteacher
Worship is inspected under Section 48 of the Education Act Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of pupils is inspected under Section 5 (Ofsted) and Section 48 (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools [SIAMS])
