  2. The tale of Gallon Once upon a time in the kingdom of Gallon (1 gallon ) there lived 4 queens (4 quarts). Each queen had 2 princesses (2 pints). Each princess had 2 cats (2 cups). Each cat had 8 furry offspring ( 8 fluid ounces).

  3. Liquid Ingredients • 1 gallon = 4 quarts • 1 quart = 2 pints • 1 pint = 2 cups • 1cup = 8 fluid ounces • How many fluid ounces are in 1 pint?

  4. “Classroom rules” • In every class ( 1 cup) there are 16 test takers (16 tablespoons). By the end of the nine weeks each test taker will have taken 3 tests ( 3 teaspoons).

  5. Dry Ingredients • 1 cup = 16 tablespoons • ¾ cup = 12 tablespoons • ½ cup = 8 tablespoons • ¼ cup = 4 tablespoons • 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons • Give an example of why this is important?

  6. Butter • 4 sticks = 1 pound • 4 sticks = 2 cups • 2 sticks = 1 cup • 1 stick = ½ cup • 1 stick = 8 tablespoons • How could this information been useful for the buckwheat pancake lab?

  7. The power of 16 • 1 gallon = 16 cups • 1 cup = 16 tablespoons • 1/3 cup = 16 teaspoons • 1 pound = 16 ounces • 2 cups = 16 fluid ounces • 1 pint = 16 fluid ounces

  8. Lets test these skills!!!! • You need 1 quart of milk and you have a 2 cup measuring cup. How many times would you need to fill up the cup in order to achieve 1 quart? • You need 3 teaspoons of flour. What size measuring tool could you use to only have to measure once?

  9. Lets test these skills!!!! • How many sticks of butter would you need to get 1 cup of butter? • How many pints are in a gallon? • I need ½ cup of sugar. I only have a tablespoon. How many tablespoons would I need to get ½ cup of sugar?
