Rogue Waves • May reach 30m in height • Not well understood 1977 - The Stolt Surf (a tanker). The wave submerged the deck, which was 75 feet above sea level 1980 (South Africa) - The Esso Languedoc was hit by a rogue wave off . The starboard masts reach 25m above sea level. 1995 (Norway) – The Draupner oil rig was hit by a 20m rogue wave. Laser sensors were able to precisely measure the wave.
