  1. Custom Databases

  2. Approach Systems has created the custom database feature to allow users to take their own geographical databases, saved in a .shp (shape) file format, load them into APIC, and overlay them on APIC’s moving map. This presentation explains how to load them into APIC and display them. If you already have a custom database, and need help converting it to a .shp format, contact Approach Systems at support@approach- systems.com.

  3. Note: if the Custom folder does not exist, you may need to create it manually! First, load all custom database files (.shp) into the folder: Program Files\Approach\Apic\Data\Custom

  4. To configure and enable APIC’s custom databases, first open the Settings menu

  5. Once in the settings menu, select the Custom Data button

  6. Note: you must have the data in a shape (.shp) format to display it on the moving map Select the Data file that you want to display on the moving map

  7. Hit the Display button to enable the overlay on the moving map And here to pick the color Click here to have APIC fill the custom data on the moving map Next select the line color and width The Custom Data Properties Menu will be launched and you can enable and customize different display features

  8. The custom data will then be overlaid on the moving map
