Apathy Toward World Issues The USA is headed for war and nobody seems concerned At the party, Titus complains that no one seems changed by the previous events Violet talks about the news and Titus complains that it’s “depressing.” Health is deteriorating and people are worried more about how they look.

  5. Destruction of Languages Teenagers seem to have no articulation for what they think or feel Violet confuses them all with her elaborate metaphors Even world leaders use slang, profanity and basic terms like “thingy”

  6. Destruction of Environment People have to wear special suits at the ocean References to “the last fishes,” “steaming lakes,” “air factories”
