The Birth of Spanish America • -indigenous workers worked in the encomienda system • -they had the privilege to work for the conqueror • -instead of paying tribute to aztecs or incas they paid to overlords • -many natives died because of disease • Ethnicities changed • Introduction of Christianity to the natives
