  1. Stop Domestic violence Presented by Alyssa Lefebvre

  2. Our Mission This program helps female victims of domestic violence by encouraging them to get out of their abusive relationships by creating a program that enhances their career skills. Statistics prove that many women in poverty are also in abusive relationships, so our hope is to educate, empower, and support these women while they learn to improve and maintain job skills so they can become financially independent and out of these unhealthy relationships!

  6. Literature Review • This article explains how economic dependency has been noted to be the major result of staying in an abusive relationship. When victims have higher levels of education it can end domestic violence from happening consistently for various reasons. First off, uneducated victims have a tendency to accept domestic violence as a normal way of life and are less likely to report these incidents to higher authorities. This is because they are not educated on aspects of life such as literacy which would benefit them with understanding laws or even written texts that could lead to intervention. Higher education also gives victims the confidence to believe that they are equal candidates for employment (Laxminarayan 2010). • This article explains that since uneducated victims are less likely to work, it continues the cycle of abuse because they are around all day giving the perpetrator more time to perform illegal acts. Overall, when obtaining a job it will make it so they are out of the unsafe environment where abuse is taking place, and instead into a safe workplace (Bowlus 2006). • This article explains how public welfare is essential for certain groups of people who need assistance for resources that they cannot obtain in their daily lives. Normally, when an individual is on public welfare this means they are of the lower class because they aren’t making a high enough income in order to maintain their own financial independence. It was found that 55% to 65% of women on public welfare have reported being abused in an intimate partner relationship. It is expensive for the government to fund all of these victims and it is up to $10 billion alone just including health care. Overall, this proves that a majority of the victims are in the category of poverty (Tiefenthaler 2005).

  10. Data Analysis Continued Unfortunately after reviewing the data it seems to be that this program would not work out. This is shown in the table where it says that there are 50.3% of females being abused before, and the post test has a higher percentage being 52.7%. Also, it shows to not be statistically significant because it is .666 instead of being below .05.
