CONSERVATION OF WATER • By decreasing the pollution of water: Agricultural, industrial and domestic wastes are thrown into water causing contamination of water. It makes the water unfit to drink and is the cause of many diseases. The waste water should therefore be treated before dumping into water bodies.
CONSERVATION OF WATER • By proper storage of water: Dams can be built on rivers to store excess of water and use it for irrigation or production of electricity.
CONSERVATION OF WATER • By stopping indiscriminate cutting of forests: Deforestation or cutting down of tress lead to drastic climatic changes causing flood and drought. By planting more trees we can strike a balance.
CONSERVATION OF WATER • By using the water wisely: Use plants that require less water. Water your yard or plants early or late in the day to reduce evaporation. Use a shut off nozzle on your hose. Mulch around the plants to hold soil. Get an Energy Star labeled washing machine. • Wash only full loads. Use a low flow showerhead.
CONSERVATION OF WATER • By using the water wisely: Turn off the water while soaping hands or brushing teeth. Turn off sink faucet while scrubbing dishes and pots. Take shorter shower – 5 minutes or less is best. Use a broom not a hose to clean drive ways and walkways. Install new toilets that use less water per flush. Put faucet aerators on sink faucet. Changing a few of our habits can help reduce water use. Use only the adequate amount of water for daily chores.
