Where have we been? Current NCVER research priorities • Growing the labour supply • Motivating individuals to participate in VET • Sustaining a skills base through apprenticeships and traineeships • Enhancing the productive capacity of enterprises • Enabling VET providers to compete effectively
Current NCVER research activity • Four leading research centres (Melbourne University, University of Sydney, ANU and UNISA) are addressing 3 of 5 priorities • Open tenders • Commissioned research • Priority 5 attracted little interest through tenders – NCVER commissioned 6 essays on the topic • Longitudinal Survey of Australian Youth (LSAY)
Possible research themes • The implications of the economic downturn for education and training • Social considerations • Demographic change • Technology and innovation • Sustainability • Supply-side pushes • Social inclusion • Reforms in the education and training system • Internationalisation • Teaching and learning
What areas should NCVER focus its research effort on from 2010?
