  3. 1 INTRODUCTION The House introduces a bill The Senate introduces a bill

  4. 2 COMMITTEES a committee may approve, rewrite or kill the bill

  5. 3 DEBATE In each house, the bill is debated and votes on their version of the bill

  6. 4 ONE VERSION House and Senate members get together to hammer out one common bill

  7. 5 FINAL VOTE Both houses vote separately on the bill

  8. PRESIDENT OK or VETO 6 President can sign the bill or veto (cancel) it

  9. VETO OVERRIDE 7 If President vetoes the bill it can still pass with 2/3 of Congress vote 2 3

  10. BILL BECOMES A LAW 8 The bill is now officially a LAW
