Consultants • Key role in the success of a Venturing Crew • Special skills, equipment, facilities, contacts • Similar role to the merit badge counselor • Registered as adult volunteers or merit badge counselor in council/district • Remember: one on one involvement between adults and youth prohibited
Conducting Boards of Review • Male Venturers - Star, Life, Eagle Palm • Troop or crew, if dual registered • 3 to 6 member of troop or crew committee • 1 member serves as chairman • Crew Advisor, associate advisor, relatives, or guardians - may not serve on the board
Purpose of the Review • To make sure the work has been learned and completed • To check to see what kind of experience the young man is having in the crew • To encourage the Venturer to advance to the next rank • Review is not an examination - 15 minutes • Eagle board follows the procedures of the local council
Conducting Crew Reviews • Required for Gold and Silver awards • Candidate prepares evidence of work completed and submit to crew Advisor • Crew president with crew Advisor - appoint review committee of 4 - 6 Venturers and adults • Did the candidate grow? • Standard advancement report completed for council office
Venturing Advisor Award of Merit • Training • Quality program • Youth leadership development • Youth retention • Success with Venturing • Nominated by crew president and the committee chair • Certificate, square knot, pin
