  1. This is the best Christmas we’ve experienced in a long time. If Christmas is God’s good will towards men, we also enjoyed the good will of our church towards a very poor family in the mountains of Gualavi.

  2. Segundo (5th. from the left, with a light blue shirt) was an alcoholic. A few months ago he was saved when Luis (second to the left) evangelized him. Now, most of Segundo’s relatives, making five families, attend our Iñaquito Community in Gualavi, near Otavalo. He’s a changed person and a faithful believer.

  3. But Pastor Luis found out that these five families, 15 people, including small children and elderly people, were living in a30 x 30 sq.ft. old house made of clay, sleeping on the ground.

  4. This was the clay “house” where 15 people “lived”, before they came to Jesus and their lives began to change by His grace.

  5. That small poor congregation of around 40 members,decided to help thembuild a new house. They tore down halfof the old house,leaving enough spacefor two elderly people to stay there, while anew constructionbegan. The poor indigenous congregation bought some material and spent several saturdays working.

  6. Meanwhile,13 people,including children,got some very old plastic sheets,and used them as a shelter. During the day,it was very hot inside, like a sauna;it was terribly cold at night;and everythinginside got real wetwhen rain poured down.

  7. This is how the five families lived under the plastic shelter.

  8. Six weeks passed.The indigenous community ranout of funds,giving beyondtheir capacity.That’s when Ivisited them and took these pictures. Theproject becameours. On Dec.1st. our church gavevery generously,money, materials, and most of all, their hands to build.

  9. The difficult goal was to have these people out of the plastic shelter and moving into their new home before Christmas.

  10. Around 80 volunteers,between 25-30 a week,including brave womenand teenagers,spent three weekendsworking sacrificially,and were able to complete the walls andthe roof, so that the five families could move in, and they didjust a few days beforeChristmas.Picture taken Dec. 21st.

  11. Metal doors and windows and two bathrooms,have already been donated and will be installed very soon.

  12. VOLUNTEERSAs a church we had never been challenged like this. This project, together with gifts and christmas programs for around 2,500 poor children has made an amazing Christmas for us. Praise God!

  13. It’s been so good to tell these new believers: Merry Christmas,Jesus came to love, save and change you. He’s real.

  14. This Christmaswe saw a miracle,Jesus’ compassionchanging “homes”for a changedfamily. What agreat BLESSING…
