  2. Vision Creating new environmental norms where healthy eating and active living are the easy and natural choices.

  3. Mission To provide national and state leadership for achieving optimal health through optimal nutrition for everyone in the United States.

  4. ASTPHND works to • Strengthen policy • Support programs and • Promote services Related to food, nutrition, and health through • Communication and • Education To prevent and control health conditions related to diet and physical activity

ASTPHND’s Strategic Goals • Enhance communications among members, the board and partners. • Identify opportunities for meaningful collaboration with key partners. • Advocate for policies, funding and programming for nutrition and physical activity. • Provide national and state leadership for public health nutrition.

  6. Priorities • Elevating systems, policy and environmental change as statewide and local strategies for correcting problems of poor diet and physical inactivity. • Developing a multi-disciplinary, culturally competent workforce to address public health nutrition issues. • Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption. • Supporting an increase in physical activity and decrease in physical inactivity.

  7. Priorities • Increasing the incidence and duration of breastfeeding. • Eliminating food insecurity and hunger. • Stimulating the development of surveillance systems to track progress in populations, schools, worksites, communities and states to address public health nutrition issues.

Priorities • Developing resources and programs that enable State Health Agencies to provide effective, visible leadership for healthy eating and physical activity. • Providing a strong, proactive voice to advance national policies, initiatives, resources and programs that help states and localities effectively address issues related to nutrition and physical activity.

National Council of Fruit & Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators • Members of the Council consist of Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators (formally known as 5 A Day Coordinators) representing F&V programming within a U.S. state, district, territory, and commonwealth. • Council members may also be Designees, Expanded, and Associate members of ASTPHND.

National Council of Fruit & Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators Vision • Passionate and successful coordinators lead state and national efforts to promote optimal heath through increased fruit and vegetable consumption. Mission • To provide Coordinators with leadership opportunities and to serve as an organized voice in decisions that affect national fruit and vegetable public health planning.

National Council of Fruit & Vegetable Nutrition Coordinators • There are four committees of the Council: • Executive Committee • Membership Committee • Advocacy Committee • Communications Committee • The Chair of the Executive Committee is a voting member of the ASTPHND Board • Election is in progress and Council leadership is seeking participation on committees.
