Educating the Board/Staff • Attendance at NCSBN meetings • Board/Management Staff Retreat Fall 2004 • NLCA representatives from 3 states at retreat along with legal counsel from a compact state • Operating officer exploring financial options/alternatives
Decision Made • KBN voted in Fall 2004 to go forward • Timeline developed • Completion of the NLCA Implementation Plan: Staff assignments made
Preparatory Work • Have met with 22 stakeholders in KY • Have obtained a sponsor for the bill – negotiating for co-sponsors • Met with Governor’s representative • Flyer distributed explaining the compact – WEB info • Pre-file the bill 2005 • Prepare data for NURSYS (Implement by January 2006)
Anticipated Response • NLC Bill anticipate in 2006 legislative session • File NLC Regulation July 2006 • Implement NLC in KY June 2007
