Physical Education GCSE to AS bridging assignment Bibliography: A bibliography is a list of books, scholarly articles, and other sources you use when researching a topic and writing a paper. The bibliography will appear at the end of your study. The bibliography is sometimes called Works Cited or Works Consulted Bibliography entries will include: Author Title of your source Publication information Date Your entries should be listed in alphabetical order by the last name of the author. Task 2: At the end of your local study start compiling a bibliography of the sources you used for your information so far. Task 3: Open a new word document titled ‘Personal Performance’. I now want to know all about your sporting career to date. This will be the first thing the examiner reads so must give the best picture possible about who you are and what level you play at and all the steps in-between from when you first began your sport. A physical profile would be a good way to start possibly in table format with a sporting picture of you in action or representing your team / squad / country etc. You will need to detail your current age, weight, height etc as well as perhaps some career highs to date. Then go into writing about your development in sport. It might start general from playing sport in primary PE lessons to specialising later on in life. I also want to know how often you train, where you train, where you compete, how often etc. Finally can you provide any evidence to support your career. Do you have medals or trophies you can take pictures of, is there any newspaper or website write ups you can add or any certificates of achievement. You may also have some videos of you in action which you can include. The more evidence to support your writing the better. Aspire: Be able to assess the local sporting provision across both sectors & be able to measure the level at which you play & provide evidence to support this. Challenge: Be able to identify the local private and public sector involvement for your sport & illustrate your sporting profile to date Task 4: Training logs: One of the assessment tasks requires you to evidence 8 weeks worth of training. If you are currently playing sport and training for your activity log exactly what you do and when you do it on a word document. The date, time and venue needs to be detailed as well as the content of the training session in terms of a warm up, main activities and cool down. You can then analyse your training to see whether you felt it improved your physiological, psychological, tactical or technical components. You could start this piece of work by defining and sourcing the definition for each of these terms remembering to start a bibliography. Competition logs: The same coursework requires you to document 3 formal competitive situations in your sport. This may be a competitive football / rugby / cricket match or a dance / trampoline performance or a swim event. Regardless of the sport you need to write up when / where and what the competition was. You need to write up a general analysis of the team performance then analyse your own performance again using the same components. Task 1: Start a new word document titled ‘Local Study’. The first thing you need to do is provide a definition for the public and private sectors of industry. You will need to quote these word for word and provide the source of your definition. To help you understand how to do this click on the following link.(print this off for your file) http://www.staffs.ac.uk/assets/harvard_quick_guide_tcm44-47797.pdf You will then need to get out about and do some research in your local area for your sport. I want to know exactly what facilities local or private are available and I would like a bank of physical resources for your files such as website print outs / leaflets / pamphlets / newspaper adverts etc. Once you have found what provision is available you will need to write it up on your local study. A table listing the facilities under public and private headings as well as an analysis of each facility will be required. Keep it short and succinct. Your total word count for this section should not exceed 200 words (excluding table). Task 5: Your final task is important as its content – if learnt thoroughly – will aid your understanding throughout AS and A2 PE. You are required to produce a research pack on 3 of the main sporting agencies in the UK. We would like you to learn the general purpose of each agency as well as its aims and strategies for achieving its goals. The 3 bodies are: UK Sport, Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust. If researched correctly you should find enough information to provide a small file on each which should be printed out and kept in your files throughout the year.
