The Invention of the first airplane… BY: Jennifer Perez
What does the airplane do? • A quick and convenient way to transport to long distance places is by the invention of the airplane. • When the Wright Brothers’ invented the airplane, they believed that airplanes would eventually be used to transport passengers and mail. • Transportation by airplane is easier and safer.
Who invented the airplane? • The Wright Brothers: Orville and Wilbur Wright invented, designed, made, and flew the first airplane! • Since they were young, they both had great technical ability. • Wilbur’s was first interested in the idea of mechanical flight after reading of Otto ‘s successful gliding experiments in Germany. From these studies and observations, the Wrights built their first machine in 1899.
More info… • The “Wright Flyer” was a fabric- covered biplane with a wooden plane. The power to the aircraftwas supplied by a 12-horsepower water-cooled engine. • “It was a small, biplane glider flown as a kite to test their solution for controlling the craft by wing warping. Wing warping is a method of arching the wingtips slightly to control the aircraft's rolling motion and balance”(Internet).
The first invented airplane by the Wright Brothers… This was on December 17, 1903 near Kitty Hawk, California.
The importance of the airplane… • This invention is very important because it has greatly improved and helped transportation. • Today we use the airplane to travel from country to country or state to state. • During World War 1, the Dayton Wright Airplane Company produced planes and aircraft engines to help out the U.S. War.
