What Challenges Do We Face? • We are a community based hospital which doesn’t see trauma • Our physicians are less acquainted with organ donation process • Weekends and evenings are resource poor
Process Improvement Initiatives: • Arranged for a Peer to Peer discussion with the Neuro Science Committee to discuss Best Practices for determining brain death and working with families for the best outcomes • Introduced the Donor Management Class for the Nursing Staff • Rewrote policy • Housewide education on Clinical Triggers • OR in-services for both BD and DCD donation cases
